The current heavyweight roster of boxing boasts of some elite names that have the ability to hook in millions and billions of boxing fans around the globe. In that elite list, Tyson Fury has held his spot right at the top and it seems there’s no one who can move him from his spot at the moment.
He is a unique fighting figure who, along with his boxing prowess, makes it to the headlines with his eccentric statements and one-liners. Recently, the WBC heavyweight champ, who was in an exclusive conversation with Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions, shed some light on what makes him a special fighter.
He said, “You got Muhammad Ali. He had his superior footwork that made him special. You got like Mike Tyson. He had that speed and that power, the turn and twists, then you had Lennox Lewis. He had his hulking strength and dots like to go forward and aggression.”
“Then you had following me Klitschko had all this awkwardness because of his size. Now if you roll all of them up into one, that makes me.”
Currently, Fury is in a fight camp for his upcoming trilogy with Deontay Wilder. The two will collide on October 9 for Fury’s WBC title. This bout is one of the most prominent heavyweight encounters of 2021 and it will mark Fury’s very first-world title defense.
