After much rigmarole and discussions, finally, the most-anticipated fight in the super-middleweight division is on. The unified champ, Canelo Alvarez, and the IBF champ, Caleb Plant, will enter the ring against each other on November 6 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. The talks between both the fighters’ teams ran for a few weeks and eventually, they rolled out the news of this high-class tussle.
Recently, Boxing Scene also revealed that this fight will also have an additional belt added by the WBC named the Teotihuacan belt.
WBC creates these commemorative belts for fights held on two Mexican holidays. One is Cinco De Mayo in May and the other one is Mexican Independence Day in September.
Though this fight will take place in November, the WBC still added the Teotihuacan belt alongside all the super-middleweight titles.
Canelo vs Plant’s fight is one of the most iconic fights in the 168-pound frame as it will result in the crowning of the first-ever undisputed champion at this weight class. Hence, the winner of this contest will get his name registered in the history books as the ultimate legend at super middleweight.
Both Plant and Canelo have some notable wins under their wing at super middleweight. However, it will all go down the drain if they lose on November 6. That said, this fight will not only test their boxing prowess, but also their ability to tackle adversities.
