Celebrity MasterChef: Every winner of the series so far and who they beat to the trophy

Celebrity MasterChef has reached its much-anticipated finals week, with only a handful of celebrities turned chefs left to cook it out in a bid to lift the coveted trophy.

It has been a delicious series, which has seen the likes of Penny Lancaster, Melania Sykes and Gavin Esler all try their hand at some successful – and not so successful – dishes.

None of them however managed to make it to the final week, with the final five standing as Dion Dublin, Joe Swash, Megan McKenna, Kadeena Cox and Kem Cetiny.

Whoever wins will be joining a select group of stars who made their way to the top – and let’s just say the women have been beating the boys so far in terms of becoming champion.

So, just who exactly has made it to the Celebrity MasterChef hall of fame, and where would we know them from?

Here are the stars who have managed to take home the coveted trophy over the years, and what they got up to next.

Matt Dawson was the show’s first ever winner (Picture: BBC)

2006: Matt Dawson

England rugby captain Matt Dawson became the first ever winner of Celebrity MasterChef all the way back in 2006.

In the all-male finale, he beat Hardeep Singh Kohli and Roger Black to the title.

Loose Women Nadia was crowned the champion in 2007 (Picture: BBC)

2007: Nadia Sawalha 

Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha became the first female winner of the series back in 2007.

She had some tough competition though – and went up against Strictly’s Craig Revel-Horwood and musician Midge Ure in the final showdown.

She later went on to host Junior MasterChef.

2008: Liz McClarnon 

Liz McClarnon found an unexpected downside to winning Celebrity MasterChef – she now had no excuse not to cook!

‘I am so glad I won. It was such a tough journey for someone who could not cook,’ she said. ‘The only down side is I had to cook my own birthday meal because I was the best cook in the house!’

She beat TV host Andi Peters and London’s Burning star Mark Moraghan to the trophy with her three course finale.

2009: Jayne Middlemiss 

Jayne beat athlete Iwan Thomas and Coronation Street star Wendi Peters to claim the 2009 victory.

‘It’s so exciting to be crowned MasterChef Champion,’ she said at the time. ‘It was a truly incredible experience, and it’s given me confidence and allowed me to realise my passion for cooking.

‘I hope this is just the start of my culinary journey.’

For her winning final three-course meal, Jayne created a starter of seared scallops on apple puree, the main course of pan-fried veal and truffle potatoes, with lavender panacotta with crystallised violets for dessert.

2010: Lisa Faulkner

Actress and TV presenter Lisa was crowned the 2010 winner after beating Christine Hamilton and Dick Strawbridge in the final showdown.

She prepared a goat’s cheese and red onion tartlet for starter, a main course of monkfish and an almond pannacotta for dessert.

‘MasterChef has changed my life – it’s opened up a new world to me,’ she said at the time.

Proving that more true than she maybe thought at the time, Lisa went on to marry judge John Torode in 2015.

2011: Phil Vickery 

Beating journalist Kirsty Wark and actor Nick Pickard, former England rugby captain Phil Vickery was awarded the 2011 title.

For the traditional three-course finale, he prepared a starter of scallops, with a lamb fillet with fondant potatoes for main, and a dessert of orange and chocolate bread and butter pudding and clotted cream.

‘I never ever thought for one second I’d have it in me to be champion,’ he said. ‘Who says miracles can’t happen?’

2012: Emma Kennedy

Author and actress Emma Kennedy emerged the victor in 2012, beating Michael Underwood and Danny Mills.

Emma’s winning menu consisted of a starter of pea, mint and ricotta Ravioli with pancetta butter and pea shoots, and a main of pan-fried turbot topped with samphire with vegetable filled leek cannelloni.

She finished with a dessert of Ile Flottante – poached meringue in Crème Anglaise with almond praline topping and shortbread.

She said: ‘This is the first trophy I’ve ever won and what a trophy to win; there’s been blood sweat and burns that have gone into this!

‘It ranks up there in one of the all time life achievements.’

2013: Ade Edmondson 

Bottom star Ade Edmondson beat Les Dennis and Janet Street-Porter in the finale to take home the Masterchef trophy.

For his three-course meal for the finale, he made pan-seared loin of venison with a pepper crust for starters and butterflied fillet of sea bass as main.

He finished with a dessert of strawberries in caramel syrup, with a caraway shortbread and raspberry sorbet.

‘I’m very, very chuffed, I’ve spent most of my life being second, so to actually come top feels very weird,’ he said at the time. ‘It feels unusual, but I’m very, very pleased indeed. It’s quite nice to be first.’

2014: Sophie Thompson

Actress Sophie Thompson emerged victorious in 2014, beating model Jodie Kidd and Charlie Boorman.

In the final, she made roulade of duck, roasted brill with a pepper crust and a steamed cherry pudding.

‘I can’t Adam and Eve it! Thank you so much, this has been the best fun!,’ she said on the win.

‘It’s ridiculous winning something like this! The trouble is if you put it in your kitchen.. you could be hoisted by your own petard, if you serve up something a bit naff!’

2015: Kimberly Wyatt

Pussycat Dolls star Kimberly smashed it to the number one spot in the kitchen back in 2015.

She faced Rylan Clark-Neal and Sam Nixon in the final showdown.

‘This has been one of the greatest experiences of my life,’ Kimberly said at the time.

‘The whole reason for being in MasterChef was because I am a new mum, and to create something for my little Willow to look up to, and I think that’s what this represents.’

2016: Alexis Conran

Real Hustle star Alexis Conran put his money where his mouth is and was crowned the winner of Celebrity MasterChef 2016.

He beat out BBC Breakfast’s Louise Minchin and pop legend Jimmy Osmond.

In the finale, Alexis whipped up a three-course meal of octopus stifado (stew) with fava for starters, stuffed chicken leg with feta curd, artichokes, peas and beetroot for mains, and nut filo pastry pin wheels with yoghurt for pudding.

‘I am so very happy and relieved my family are going to be so proud,’ he joked.

‘I was very happy with “finalist” but I’ll take “champion”… “champion” sounds great!’

2017: Angellica Bell 

Former CBBC presenter and The One Show host Angellica Bell was crowned champion after beating Ulrika Jonsson and Dev Griffin.

Her winning dishes were fried halibut with king prawns and a vermouth sauce, and  a ‘Chocolate Nightmare’ dessert with olive oil ice cream.

On her win, she said: ‘It has been one of the most stressful yet rewarding experiences I’ve ever been through.

‘I didn’t realise just how passionate I was about food and how much I thrived on learning more.’

2018: John Partridge 

Eastenders star John Partridge took home the trophy after beating Spencer Matthews and Martin Bayfield.

‘I thought it was going to be all about cooking and about food and it ended up being so much more than that. I cooked to remember,’ he said.

‘To remind myself of who I am, where I’m from and what I can still be. And now to have actually won – it just feels really really good.’

His final dishes were inspired by growing up in Lancashire.

2019: Greg Rutherford 

Olympic medallist Greg Rutherford beat Vicky Pattison and Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock to the finish line.

‘I used everything I learnt as a sportsperson to dedicate my time and energy into creating the best food I possibly could,’ he said on the win.

‘I’m over the moon that John and Gregg appreciated the effort I made and everybody else that tried my food during this process.’

Earlier this year, Greg welcomed his third child with fiancee Sophie Verrill and also announced that he will be on the Team GB bobsleigh team at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing next February.

2020: Riyadh Khalaf

Irish broadcaster and internet personality Riyadh Khalaf was crowned the winner in last year’s socially distanced competition.

On his victory, Riyadh said ‘I am absolutely in shock. I can’t believe it, it’s an incredible feeling.

‘This show I have been watching since I was in school and to have gone from being a fan of the show to winning the thing – this is without a doubt the biggest achievement of my life.’

He beat out Olympic medalists – rower Sir Matthew Pinsent and hockey player Sam Quek – with an exquisite three-course meal.

His dishes included a starter of monkfish scampi in beer batter with wild garlic mayonnaise, a main course of beef fillet with port shallots, celeriac cream and a Parmesan tuile and a dessert of white chocolate fondant with rhubarb poached in elderflower liqueur.
