‘Lamar Jackson Must Improve Throwing Accuracy’ – Stephen A. Smith Rips Into Ravens Qb’s Inefficiency

The Monday night thriller produced by LA Raiders and Baltimore Ravens questioned the inconsistency of Lamar Jackson. ESPN’s First Take commentator dropped harsh comments on Jackson’s series of inefficient displays.

Both the teams were neck on neck at each other, as they hurled points from both sides, eventually ending in a tie. Although, the Raiders emerged victorious with a phenomenal touchdown pass by Derek Carr in the overtime.

Lamar Jackson under the radar

No wonder the Raiders’ quarterback outperformed Lamar Jackson by a mile. Lamar’s hurl of 19 successful passes was a no match to Derek’s 34. The picture was clear that Lamar was under tremendous pressure, to which he later succumbed to. And it might be a clear sign for Ravens that the players are not well versed with the likes of Lamar this season.

However, fingers are pointed towards the quarterback, as he failed to deliver the expected numbers. And in the latest installment of the First Take, the ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith gives critical intakes on Lamar Jackson.

“Because of his elusivity, the way he can be so evasive running the football from the quarterback position,” Stephen Smith expresses his views on Lamar. “That is the dynamic he brings to the table that no other quarterback brings, not even Michael Vick back in his day. Not to this level, OK. We understand that. So he doesn’t have to be Patrick Mahomes, he doesn’t have to be Tom Brady. You’re right about that, but he still needs to be more consistent, throwing the football accurately!”

Lamar will be back soon

Smith’s point was direct and straightforward, Lamar has to make amends in his approach with the team or it could weaken his stance in the franchise. Although the quarterback brings a unique dynamic to the gameplay of the Ravens, he still has to work on throwing the ball accurately.

His 19 passes of 30 attempts, covering 235 yards with just one touchdown and zero interceptions, was not suffice to win them the dramatic game, drawing criticism. However, Lamar has the capabilities to defy all odds, and he vows to come back stronger against Pittsburgh Steelers in week 2.
