Richard Madeley has spoken out on Nicki Minaj’s comments on the Covid-19 vaccine, and he hasn’t minced his word, branding her an ‘idiot’.

Nicki went viral after claiming that one of her cousin’s friends in Trinidad was ditched by his wife after his testicles became swollen as an apparent side-effect of the Covid-19 vaccine.

The rapper shared the wild allegation while explaining that she was not attending the Met Gala as the exclusive event required attendees to be vaccinated.

The 38-year-old tweeted: ‘They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. if I get vaccinated it won’t for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research. I’m working on that now. In the meantime my loves, be safe. Wear the mask with 2 strings that grips your head & face. Not that loose one.’

She continued: ‘My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine cuz his friend got it & became impotent. His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it & make sure you’re comfortable with ur decision, not bullied.’

There is no evidence to suggest that the Covid-19 vaccines cause impotence and doctors have refuted Nicki’s claims.

Speaking about the rapper on GMB, Richard declared: ‘What an idiot!’

‘She has no comprehension that that ridiculous tweet actually does do real damage,’ he went on.

Richard and his co-host Susanna Reid aren’t the only ones to address Nicki’s tweets as, in a bizarre turn of events, Boris Johnson was asked about them during a press briefing.

‘I’m not as familiar with the works of Nicki Minaj as I probably should be,’ the Prime Minister admitted, before Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty refuted her claims and said she should be ‘ashamed’.

To make things even more bizarre, Nicki responded to Mr Johnson in a wild voice note.

In the clip, she could be heard stating: ‘Yes, hello Prime Minister Boris, it is Nicki Minaj. I was just calling to tell you that I thought you were so amazing on the news this morning.

‘And I’m actually British. I was born there, I went to university there, I went to Oxford. I went to school with Margaret Thatcher and she told me so many nice things about you.

‘I’d love to send you my portfolio of my work, since you don’t know much about me.

‘I’m a big, big star in the United States.’

Professor Whitty blasted Nicki’s claims and said her comments were ‘clearly designed to scare’.

‘My own strong suggestion, if I may, to media present and not present, is repeating it in public actually just gives it credence which they don’t need,’ he said. ‘They’re untrue, full stop.’

‘If you think about where we are actually overall, the great majority are getting vaccinated, so the great majority are ignoring these myths,’ he continued. ‘And, if you talk about people in their 50s and 60s and 70s, you’re talking about over 90% of people getting vaccinated and very few people are actively in a sense in the anti-vax group.’

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
