WWE NXT: Indi Hartwell and Dexter Lumis get married as Tortured Artist finally speaks

They tied the knot this week (Picture: WWE)

Indi Hartwell and Dexter Lumis got married as the first WWE NXT 2.0 episode of the new era ended on a high.

The beloved pair – whose will they, won’t they love story has been a highlight of the show over the past few months – tied the knot and bucked the trend as a wrestling wedding went relatively smoothly, all considered.

First, Johnny Gargano, Odyssey Jones and Drake Maverick were preparing for the ceremony when Austin Theory turned up saying they needed a priest – cue Damian Priest for a nice moment.

Meanwhile, Candice LeRae was making sure Indi was ready for the ceremony, which was a great bit of TV for the NXT team.

Gargano struggled to give up the spotlight, while Ikemen Jiro had the rings as things got underway in the ring.

Indi’s vows were hilarious and, at times, touching, although Dexter was his usual quiet self which led to a great moment when the priest questioned why he had no vows.

In response, the Tortured Artist simply laid him out with the Silence, before Beth Phoenix jumped off commentator and stepped in to officiate.

Andre Chase looked to be ready to get involved but Odyssey Jones stopped him, and Lumis finally spoke as he said: ‘I do.’

They kissed to seal the deal, and it will be great to see where the new NXT power couple go from here.

They’ve been a great part of NXT recently, with the genuinely funny skits and steady development as things have rolled on, and this next stage should be no different.

With WWE resisting the urge to swerve everyone here, it also seems like there’s faith in the duo to carry this on and be a big part of the 2.0 era of the brand.

Also intriguing is Lumis finally speaking, and it’ll be fascinating to see if that plays out or if it was simply a one-off.

*WWE NXT airs Tuesday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
