Billie Jean King and Tennis Community Send Wishes As Simona Halep Marries Billionaire Boyfriend

Romanian tennis star Simona Halep has been a great contributor to the women’s game. She has won two Grand Slam titles, the first at the French Open in 2018, and in the following year, she won the Wimbledon Championships. 

Yesterday, there was another exciting news revealed regarding Simona Halep. The Romanian star has gotten married to her billionaire boyfriend Toni Iuruc. Congratulations to the star as she looked elated in a video of the couple dancing.

On hearing this news, wishes poured in from her colleagues and other personalities associated with this elegant sport. Six-time Slam champion Rennae Stubbs wished, “Congrats Simo!!!!” Two-time US Open champion Tracy Austin commented, “Congratulations. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness together.” Billie Jean King Cup account tweeted, “Simply stunning Congratulations to Simona Halep on her marriage to Toni Iuruc on Wednesday!”

Simona Halep underperformed early in 2021 

Reflecting on Halep’s season so far, she began her stint at the Australian Open. She came as far as the quarterfinal, where she lost in straight sets to 23-time Major winner Serena Williams. In Stuttgart, she reached the semifinal and ended up losing to Aryna Sabalenka.

Later, she was seen in Rome. Unfortunately, she had to withdraw midway from her match against Angelique Kerber due to injury. After that, she skipped the French Open and the Wimbledon Championships, both events where she has seen successful in the past.

At the US Open 2021, she lost in the fourth round to Ukrainian tennis star Elina Svitolina. We wish her all the best for the remainder of the season and on the new development in her personal life.
