Dan Walker showed off a painful bump on his head after a ‘completely stupid’ injury.

The 44-year-old, who is gearing up to make his Strictly Come Dancing debut, revealed that he ran straight into a glass door by accident, leaving onlookers ‘gasping’.

We’ve definitely all been there.

Taking to Instagram, the BBC Breakfast star shared a selfie with fans, unveiling a notable bump above his eyebrow.

‘I’ve done something completely stupid. I left my wallet in the taxi as I checked into a hotel,’ he captioned the post.

‘I ran back out to chase the driver and ran straight into a giant glass door which I thought was open.

‘Full deck on the floor, gasps in the restaurant… lump on the head. Thankfully… I still remember the routine.

‘I got the wallet back as the driver had stopped for a fag around the corner.’

Well, at least he still remembers that all-important routine, eh?

Dan is set to make his debut on the dance floor this Saturday, for the Strictly Come Dancing launch episode – where he will be paired up with his partner.

But while those rehearsals have already left him ‘shattered’, the BBC Sport host isn’t fussed at the thought of criticism from the judges.

In fact, while the panel are known for their harsh comments – yes we’re looking at you, Craig Revel Horwood – he believes that his Christian faith will help him get through it.

Speaking on Premier Christian Radio’s The Profile podcast, he admitted that he has a thick skin, stating: ‘I never mind what people write or say about me.

‘That’s because, as a Christian, I don’t take my value from what people think about me.

‘I know I can’t control all those things, hurtful or hateful, whatever they might be, that people say about me or my family, or about my faith.’

Strictly Come Dancing kicks off on Saturday, on BBC One.
