Former NBA Champion Makes Bold Claims About Upcoming Season for Celtics’ New Arrival Dennis Schroder

Dennis Schroder was arguably the steal of the free agency for the Celtics. The former Oklahoma star had a humbling end to his stint at the Lakers. In search of greener pastures, he refused an $84 million extension offer from the Lakers at first. They immediately withdrew from the negotiations and Schröder finally ended up becoming a free agent at the end of last season.

However, he could only get a $5.9 million offer from the Celtics, which the circumstances eventually forced him to accept. Yet, this humbling experience will bring out the best in Schroder. That is what we should expect from Schroder, according to Former NBA Champion Antonio Daniels.

Daniels claims Dennis Schroder will be back in his prime at the Celtics

Appearing in an interview with SiriusXM NBA Radio, Daniels said, “A lot of times this is all it takes. Exactly what he experienced this summer is what it takes to change a guy’s mentality.”

Further, he added, “I guarantee you will see the best version of Dennis Schroder that we’ve seen since he was in OKC.”

It is important to note that this claim is slightly flawed since Dennis averaged his career highs in assists and points at Atlanta and not OKC. He averaged 19.4 points and 6.3 assists per game in different seasons with the Atlanta Hawks. But in the 2019 season, he had his career-high in field goal percentage, three-point percentage, and rebounds per game at Oklahoma.

Therefore, the underlying message is simple. Schroder has faced an attitude-changing experience this summer. And if he is the player most of the league expects him to be, he will bounce back from a setback season. Considering that he was seeking over 20 million a year, he is extremely confident in his own skills.

Will he be able to prove the legends right? Does he have what it takes to come back stronger from a sub-par season?
