Ex-F1 Driver Indirectly Blames Mercedes for Nikita Mazepin’s F1 Struggles

Nikita Mazepin has garnered a huge amount of criticism since he joined Formula One. Many have called the Russian driver for his dangerous driving on the track and sometimes for his off-track antics.

The latest to join the list is Former Formula One driver Marc Surer. Surer mentioned that Mazepin has been spoiled in terms of opportunities in the motorsport world.

I think Nikita Mazepin is overwhelmed by F1 because of his Mercedes tests: Marc Surer

As reported by Motorsport-Total, Surer commented on Nikita’s struggles since joining Formula 1. He also pointed out as he comes from money, he was given opportunities that many drivers don’t get. Marc also mentioned that the private tests in a Mercedes might have given him the wrong idea about the sport.

”He has become spoiled because of that because with a Mercedes many drivers can drive fast. That might have made him think; ‘Formula 1 is not that difficult’. However, then he goes from the best car on the grid to the worst, and of course, that is tough,” said Marc Surer.

The former F1 driver mentioned the biggest problem for Nikita Mazepin is that the sport has overwhelmed him.

”I think Mazepin is overwhelmed by Formula 1. A lot of his actions are not thought about and not well prepared. Sometimes it even seems like it’s almost out of some kind of panic. It’s not under control and he has no overview.” said the Swiss.

Mick Schumacher hopes that the feud with his teammate would be over soon

Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher have been budding heads recently on and off the track. Schumacher has called Nikita for his rash driving while Mazepin complaint Mick did not follow the pre-race agreements.

They both not talked to each other since the Dutch GP, but the German hopes that the team will handle the feud and would be over soon.

“Everything has been said from each party and hopefully, we can find the right solution and the right way out of it. We have discussed it internally and I am quite keen on keeping it internally as well. We will see the understanding we have taken within the team.

Hopefully, whatever we have discussed now will then not be a worry at the moment we are more competitive.” said Mick.

Mick and Nikita came together again at the Italian GP when the Russian spun his teammate. But this time Mazepin apologized to his teammate and the team for his action.
