Grammy Winning Rapper Draws Parallel Between Serena Williams and Michael Jordan

Tennis legend Serena Williams has had a remarkable and historic career and her influence extends beyond her abilities on the court. The American superstar has experienced success in the various endeavors she has engaged herself in. She continues to be an inspiration for her millions of followers.

Recently, Oscar and Grammy award winner artist Common reflected on the greatness of Serena Williams. He related the commitment of the NBA’s great Michael Jordan to that of the 23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams. They both wanted to be the best in what they do and lived up to it.

While speaking to the rapper, he stated, “I feel there were definitely parallels with Serena and Michael Jordan. You know just seeing someone execute certain confidence but also a certain work ethic, determination, and commitment, you could see someone who wanted to be excellent in everything they did and that’s what I saw in Michael Jordan and Serena. She wanted to be excellent in whatever she does. I could see that commitment, determination, and also a passion for the sport.”

Serena Williams was unimpressive on clay in 2021

Williams did not have a vintage season, according to her lofty standards. Her best performance came when she reached the semifinal of the Australian Open early this year. After that, she failed to impress with her performances on the clay. She lost in the fourth round of Roland Garros.

At the Wimbledon Championships, she retired midway after twisting her ankle. It occurred during the initial stages of the opening set. She then decided to skip the US Open due to injury. We wish her a speedy recovery and hope to see her back to winning ways as soon as possible.
