“I Don’t Really Care About My Results”: When Serena Williams Taunted Maria Sharapova

American tennis ace Serena Williams has enjoyed a long and illustrious career. Serena has been an inspiration for youngsters on and off the court. The American legend has dominated the WTA tour for a long period of time and in that duration, one of her chief rivals has been Maria Sharapova.

Recently, a clip surfaced of Serena Williams in which she is talking about various topics, including her rival Maria Sharapova. The American legend feels that more than winning, she would like to have a positive impact on people’s lives.

The 23-time Grand Slam winner stated, “You don’t remember titles, 18. You know, you remember those moments that impact to make people say that she is more than a champion. I don’t really care about my results on the court. For me, it’s the other stuff like what is the purpose of your life? That’s why a lot of the stuff doesn’t usually affect me.”

Serena Williams has barely played tennis in 2021

Reflecting on Williams‘ season so far, she began in Melbourne and came as far as the semifinal at the Australian Open. After that, she was not seen for a considerable amount of time. She was next seen in Rome, preparing for the French Open.

However, she played a few events on clay this season but failed to impress and did not go deep into tournaments. She did not play any warm-up event prior to the Wimbledon Championships. Unfortunately, she had to retire midway from her opening round match after spraining her ankle during the initial games of the first set.

Recently, she also decided to skip the US Open. We hope to see her back on the courts and to winning ways. It’ll be interesting to see how she performs in 2022.
