Schitt’s Creek favourite Dan Levy has landed a huge deal with Netflix.

The comedian, 38, is man of the moment after Schitt’s Creek became the first comedy to win every major award at the Emmys, and we’ll soon be seeing much more of him on the streaming platform.

Announcing the news on Twitter, Netflix said it is ‘thrilled’ to be forming a creative partnership with Dan to create ‘original content across films and series.’

The very definition of a triple threat, he will write, produce and direct, as well as star in upcoming TV shows and films.

After starring as David Rose in all 80 episodes of Schitt’s Creek – which has amassed quite the cult following – the actor also directed, written, created and produced the hugely popular sitcom alongside his father Eugene Levy (who plays his on-screen father Johnny Rose), so it’s no surprise Netflix saw something special in him.

Dan’s TV work won’t begin until July next year, when his three-year deal to develop scripted content with ABC Studios ends, however, he’s already started on a movie.

Details of the film are still very much under wraps, however, it is known to be a romantic comedy with Sister’s Stacey Snider and Kate Fenske also producing.

Prior to delving into acting, the Canadian started his career in presenting, making his debut on MTV Canada in 2012 before becoming the icon we know today.

For his work on Schitt’s Creek, which aired its sixth and final season in 2020, Dan has been nominated for numerous awards for both writing and acting.

He is now a four time Emmy winner and most recently starred alongside Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis in LGBTQ+ comedy Christmas movie, Happiest Season, which debuted over Hulu and became one of the streamer’s most watched original movies.
