Terence Crawford Expresses Desire to Silence Doubters in Shawn Porter Fight

WBO titlist Terence Crawford will put his belt at stake against Shawn Porter on November 20, after more than a year out of the sport. Crawford’s last title defense came against Kell Brook in a fight that was a lopsided affair in his favor. However, fans wanted to see him go against tougher opponents in unification bouts.

Although Shawn Porter doesn’t fulfill the demand, the former champion can still offer a tough challenge. That said, ‘Bud’ appears hyped for the upcoming showdown and has clarified why it holds sheer importance in his career.

As reported by Michael Benson, Terence Crawford connected with ESPN to shed light on his clash against ‘Showtime’ Porter. In the chat, ‘Bud’ said, “I’m just excited I get one of those guys from PBC to be able to silence my doubters.”

The best from PBC for Terence Crawford would have been ‘The Truth’ Errol Spence Jr. A mega-fight between the undefeated champions could unify the WBC, IBF, and WBO welterweight straps under one roof. However, Spence Jr. is recovering from an eye injury that cost him a showdown against Manny Pacquiao in August. Thus, former champion Shawn Porter might be the best PBC can offer to Crawford at this time.

31-3-1 as a professional, Porter is one of the best at 147 lbs. However, Shawn Porter’s only three losses have come in the biggest nights of his career. Hence, Crawford, another star opponent, might be problematic for the Nevada native.

Although Crawford will enter the ring as a favorite, nothing can be taken for granted. While many had underestimated Porter in his fight against Spence Jr, ‘Showtime’ shocked several people with his performance. He went the distance against ‘The Truth’ and offered him a tough fight.

Porter also shook Spence Jr. on several occasions, but ended up losing the bout via split decision. Thus, Crawford cannot overlook the threats that his fellow American rival will bring. But relying on his own abilities, ‘Bud’ is already gunning for his 38th pro-win and 5th successful 147 lbs title defense.

Who do you think will win? ‘Bud’ or ‘Showtime’?
