Amy Schumer undergoes surgery for endometriosis as she gets uterus removed

Amy Schumer has revealed she underwent surgery for endometriosis, updating fans from the hospital.

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb starts to grow in other places, such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes.

It’s a long-term condition that can have a significant impact on your life, but there are treatments that can help.

Opening up in a video from her hospital bed, Amy, 40, said: ‘It’s the morning after my surgery for endometriosis and my uterus is out.

‘The doctor found 30 spots of endometriosis and he removed my apprendix because the endometriosis had attacked it. There was a lot of blood in my uterus and I’m sore and I have some gas pains but, other than that, I already feel that my energy…’

The star added in her caption: ‘If you have really painful periods you may have #endometriosis.’

Fans and friends have shared the love for Amy, with singer Vanessa Carlton writing: ‘I’m so sorry Amy! Looks like life is about to get way less painful. But not less gassy.’

Actress Debra Messing added: ‘Oh my goodness, 30?! So happy they are gone and you won’t have that pain anymore. Heal well Am!❤️’.

Earlier this year, Amy was also praised for showing her C-section scar after giving birth to her son Gene.

The Trainwreck actress gave birth to son Gene in May 2019, her first child with husband Chris Fischer.

In an Instagram photo, Amy was seen standing in her bathroom naked while taking a mirror selfie. The comedian, who covers her cleavage with one hand, left the scar on the bottom of her torso visible.
