Latest Update on Kawhi Leonard Would Make Clippers Fans Happy

Ever since Kawhi Leonard joined the LA Clippers, the LA outfit became an instant championship contender. While their regular season in the 2019-20 season was decent, the Clippers choked and succumbed in game 7 of the second round.

2020-21 season however had a different scenario all together. While they did fall to multiple 2-0 deficits in the first two rounds, the Clippers eventually made a comeback and had some significant post season success.

With the duo of Kawhi and Paul George leading the side, the Clippers finally looked set to challenge for the title. But unfortunately it was not meant to be as mid way through their second round matchup, ‘the Klaw’ suffered from a knee injury.

Clippers owner gives promising update on Kawhi Leonard

While the knee injury Kawhi suffered was unclear initially, it was eventually diagnosed as a partial ACL tear. Given how long a typical ACL tear takes up to recover, Kawhi’s recovery period might well be for a year meaning that he might miss the entire 2021-22 season.

But owner Steve Ballmer certainly gave a promising update for Clipper Nation. In a recent interview when asked about whether Kawhi will return at any point in the season, the Clippers’ owner said, “Nobody knows at this stage… It’s possible. For sure, it’s possible. But it will depend on what the doctors say and what Kawhi says.”

This is certainly some very exciting news for Clippers fans all be around the world. While ‘the Klaw’ is away from the court, the Clippers still have a great side led by the likes of Paul George. PG13 truly stepped up for the Clippers last season especially in the playoffs as he averaged 26.9 points, 9.6 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game.

He will certainly be the key to the side for the upcoming season. If this young Clippers’ side can make it to the playoffs and Kawhi returns in top form during the playoffs, LAC can pull off a surprise or two.

While it is the Lakers and Suns are favorites to dominate the West, the Clips can easily challenge if Leonard is back in full capacity. But the biggest question is when will Leonard make his eventual return?
