“Stronger Next Season”- Elaine Thompson-Herah Praises Trayvon Bromell After Comeback Victory

Trayvon Bromell told followers on social media early in September that he would keep pushing to improve his form overseas. Although the sprinter managed to set the tracks ablaze in the US, he failed to replicate the performances in Tokyo and other foreign events. 

At the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi, Bromell came good on his promise and won the race with a new world lead timing of 9.76 seconds in the 100m race, shattering his own earlier timing of 9.77 seconds. This marked the end of his streak of disappointing performances that began at the Tokyo Olympics.

Bromell gained the early lead but was almost chased down by Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala, who ended up fishing just 0.01 seconds short at 9.77. US track veteran Justin Gatlin could not match up to these timings and placed third at 10.03 seconds. 

“I hope to present to the world a warriors heart. I’m not perfect, but the one I serve is,” Bromell wrote in an Instagram post after the race. “I may not have grabbed the Gold in Tokyo but where I come from, I’ve already won.”

“I pray that I can continue to show you all that no matter what you go through, no one on this earth can control your fate. 5 years ago I was under surgery, 2017-19 I was home watching track from the couch. Now it’s 2021 and I’m the 6th fastest in history. I’m a keep fighting because I want yall to keep fighting. Never give up!”

Elaine Thompson-Herah encouraged Trayvon Bromell for the new season

Reacting to this message was none other than Elaine Thompson-Herah, the Jamaican who took track by storm this year. Apart from winning Olympic Gold in both the 100m and 200m, Thompson-Herah clocked a personal best timing of 10.54 seconds in the 100m race at the nike Pre-Classic in Eugene, Oregon. This was the closest any woman has ever gotten to Florence Griffith Joyner’s legendary world record.

“Good job today I am happy you close with a bang. Stronger next season,” she wrote. “Also God gives nobody nothing they can’t bear. Never give up!”

Elaine Thompson-Herah and Trayvon Bromell both look to enter the next season with dynamite strapped to their spikes. Coming off of motivating performances, both will undoubtedly be headliners in the track world as the World Championships come around.
