“They Are Human Beings”: Oscar-Winning Actor Lauds Serena Williams on Maintaining Balance Between Work and Leisure

Over the past couple of decades, one name that has been constant in the women’s game is Serena Williams. The American superstar has been a true representer of this sport. After all these years, she is the proud winner of 23 Grand Slam titles. 

Recently, Williams was praised by Grammy award winner and Oscar winner, Common. He felt the balance maintained by the American legend with regard to her personal and professional life has been commendable. He has been with Williams for outdoor activities in the past.

The 49-year-old rapper stated, “She also knew how to balance and have fun. You know going out dancing, having fun. We used to go surfing, and that was something that’s necessary too. And that’s the important aspect that I think we have to embrace with those who are at that level. They got to have other aspects in life.

“People think they just do tennis all day and that’s it. But man, they are human beings.”

Coming on to Serena’s season, she began in Adelaide and was part of an exhibition event. The event was attended by other stars like Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Naomi Osaka. After that, she went to Melbourne and lost to Naomi Osaka in the semifinal.

She was next seen after a while on the clay courts in Rome. However, her performances on clay this season were not so impressive. Even in the French Open, she lost in the fourth round. 

At the Wimbledon Championships, she twisted her ankle and injured herself. As a result, she had to withdraw from the opening round match midway. The last update on her health came as she announced that she would miss the US Open due to a hamstring injury. We wish her a speedy recovery and hope she can challenge for the biggest accolades in the sport in the coming season.
