UFC Fans React as Anthony Smith Annihilates Ryan Spann in the Very First Round at UFC Fight Night

The main event at UFC Vegas 37 featured a light heavyweight bout between Anthony Smith and Ryan Spann. This was the first UFC fight card after a brief hiatus. ‘Lionheart’ and ‘Superman’ are two extremely dangerous fighters in the 205-pound division. The former title challenger Anthony Smith was ranked 6th in the division coming into the fight. Spann on the other hand was further down at 11th.

The fight was a litmus test for Spann taking on an elite fighter who happens to be a former title challenger. However, it was ‘Lionheart’ who put on a show with an impressive first-round submission win over ‘Superman’ to make a bold statement and put the division on notice.

The finishing sequence saw Smith land a right hand that dropped Spann to the floor. He then sensed an opportunity for a finish and immediately started working on a rear-naked choke, which he eventually secured. Once the referee stepped in called the fight, the two men were involved in a scuffle as they exchanged heated words back and forth. The security on site had to step in and separate the two fighters. ‘Superman’ and ‘Lionheart’ eventually calmed down and shook each other’s hands after a hard-fought fight.
