After picking up his first Emmy for his starring role in the Netflix drama Halston, Ewan McGregor was certainly in a generous mood as he teased fans about his highly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series, heading to Disney Plus.

Ewan is set to reprise his role as the iconic Star Wars character in the upcoming TV series.

Sharing an update on production, the 50-year-old actor said during his speech at the Emmys on Sunday: ‘We finished shooting our series, and it was really, really good fun.

‘I really enjoyed working with [director/executive producer] Deborah Chow, and I think it will not disappoint.’

Sunday night’s Emmy Awards proved to be a whirlwind of emotions for the Moulin Rouge star as he accepted his award for lead actor in a limited series or movie for Halston.

Speaking backstage at Sunday’s ceremony, he said: ‘There were just a lot of very beautiful things said tonight in some of the other speeches.’

‘I have four daughters, and the importance of women and women’s rights, and equality for women, and equal pay for women,’ he added.

‘It’s so great to be in a room where people are talking about that.’

In the summer, Ewan was spotted for the first time on the set of Obi-Wan Kenobi, which will also see Hayden Christensen reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker, aka Darth Vader, from the prequel films.

Other guest stars include McGregor’s prequel trilogy co-star Bonnie Piesse, and Australian actor Joel Edgerton, returning as Luke Skywalker’s Uncle Owen.

Ewan found making the series a ‘different experience’ to when he worked on the three Star Wars prequels over a decade ago because technology has changed so much in that time.

The series is expected to hit the small screen sometime next year, although producers have been tight-lipped over the specific release date.

Not to worry, it won’t be long until we’re saying, ‘hello there’… if you know, you know.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to premiere on Disney Plus in 2022.
