HRVY reveals close bond with Emma Raducanu after US Open win: ‘We chat all the time’

After Emma Raducanu made pretty much the whole of Britain proud by winning the US Open, singer HRVY has revealed he congratulated her personally as the pair are actually great friends.

We’re already obsessed with this.

The Strictly star opened up on his sweet bond with the tennis star, explaining that they ‘chat all the time’.

‘I’ve spoken to her since she won. What an absolute star. She’s amazing,’ he said. ‘We chat all the time. We’re close. We’re good friends.’

The 22-year-old added to The Sun: ‘She’s just stunned about winning. I watched the match with my whole family, like the rest of the nation.

‘She is a lovely girl and she makes me proud to be British. She’s waving the flag for us. She’s a talented young girl in the sports industry and she created a really amazing awareness.’

Emma, 18, made history as she became the first qualifier ever to win a Grand Slam and the first British woman since Virginia Wade in 1977 to win a major following her US Open win.

She won’t be slowing down anytime soon either, as she’s now trademarked her name and she’s tipped to become the first-ever sportswoman worth £1billion.

Not too shabby!

Aside from her friendship with HRVY, Emma has plenty of celebrity fans with stars including Ant and Dec wishing her luck ahead of her big match.

Afterwards, the stars were out in full force to congratulate her as well.

Celebs including Louis Theroux, Piers Morgan, Naga Munchetty, and Gary Lineker sent Emma well-wishes, with the sports star also rubbing shoulders with A-Listers at the Met Gala.

Emma ditched her tennis kit for the night and arrived at the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, donning a black and white printed silk twill crop top and skirt from Chanel. 

Once inside, she was able to mingle with stars such as Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber and fellow tennis champion Serena Williams. 

The teen, from Bromley, admitted it feels surreal to have been sitting her A Levels just a few months ago to now being one of the most talked-about names around the world.
