“They Are Too Afraid” – WWE Legend Compares Today’s WWE Roster to the Attitude Era

WWE Legend, The Godfather, recently spoke in an interview with Midnight Hustle about how the Attitude Era is different from PG Era.

The WWE Attitude Era had been a major reason for a huge rise in the popularity of professional wrestling. The Attitude Era included violence, vulgarity and sexual content. This gave WWE a huge number of viewership and sprinkled their rise in popularity with such adult- oriented television content

But ultimately the Attitude Era came to an end in 2003 as WWE adopted a more family friendly style of content, giving rise to the PG Era.

The Godfather feels to be lucky to be a part of the WWE attitude era

The WWE Hall of Famer is currently under a Legends contract with WWE.  He feels wrestlers nowadays are too afraid of their image, and doesn’t seem to have fun.

During his interview with Midnight Hustle(h/t: WrestlingNews.co),he mentioned, “They bring you to WrestleMania every year and you do signings and stuff but I told my wife I don’t even wanna go anymore because it’s not fun, it’s a job. It used to be a chance to hang out with the boys. We had something called the bewitching hour at 12 o’clock, everyone would meet at the bar and everyone would get drunk and have fun. Nobody does that anymore because they are too afraid that somebody is gonna take a picture of them [or taping] them in a conversation [or] showing them taking shots and showing them on some girl they’re not supposed to be on. Nobody does that anymore and when I was in wrestling, not everybody was friends but you were family…it’s more a business now.”

He added, “It’s more how many followers you have, how many likes you get. It’s just a different business now. I’m not hating on nobody. If wrestling has changed it’s because people want it to change and the promoters are just keeping up with the times.”

The Godfather clearly feels that wrestling has evolved to be more of a business now.
