WATCH: Marton Fucsovics Hits Roger Federer-Inspired Tweener at ATP Moselle Open 2021

The impact of trick shots on modern tennis is heavy with most of young and upcoming players keen on using them while playing on tour. Amongst the trick shots, the tweener was one of the difficult ones to execute on a tennis court. At the on-going Moselle Open, Marton Fucsovics pulled off an epic tweener during his first-round matchup against Lorenzo Sonego.

The trick shot was invented by the legendary Argentinian Guillermo Vilas and became popular when Roger Federer used the same shot against Novak Djokovic in the 2009 US Open semis.

Since then, there were moments when the Swiss Maestro used the tweener to good effect against several of his opponents. Even though fans enjoyed the efforts, more often than not, the tweener used to go wide.

But, on instances when a player executes perfectly, it will always be a sight to behold. Against Sonego at the Moselle Open, Hungarian tennis player Marton Fucsovics hit a perfect tweener.

Even though Fucsovics went on to lose the match in straight sets against the Italian, he managed to keep the match entertaining throughout.

Tennis TV posted the video on Instagram with an engaging caption, “Zero Fucs given”.  Not just the fans, even Serena Williams‘ coach Patrick Mouratoglou seemed to have enjoyed the shot by Fucsovics as he commented on the video with a fire emoji.

Coming to Marton Fucsovics, he reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon Championships this year after defeating the likes of Andrey Rublev, Jannik Sinner, and Diego Schwartzman. He was ousted in the last eight by the eventual champion, Novak Djokovic.

Since that defeat, the Hungarian found it hard to survive in the US hard-court swing as he failed to make it past the second round in any of the tournaments, including the US Open.

With victory over Fucsovics in the opening round at Moselle, Sonego moves forward to the second round where he awaits the winner of the matchup between Alexei Popyrin and Holger Rune.
