Valve Reportedly Working on a Secret Project That Will Revolutionize Gaming on Steam

Valve has been instrumental in altering the course of PC gaming forever. Its product, Steam, delivered an experience to gamers worldwide that was simply unheard of at the time. No longer did gamers have to wait for servers to stabilize to get that one file to update the client. Instead, Steam simplified everything by bringing updates, an e-store, and more under one umbrella.

Soon other competitors followed the same formula and now steam is about to introduce another revolutionary feature. Exactly like modern-day consoles, even Steam will allow users to play any game as it downloads in the background.

Valve will alter the course of PC gaming with Steam once again

As per reports by VG27, Gabe Newell and his team have taken up a secret project to enhance the gaming experience on steam. This feature will allow steam to download prerequisite files first, which will pave the way for games to work as the files keep downloading.

Such a feature already exists in the console gaming ecosystem, which was first introduced in PS4 and Xbox One. Now, the feature is going to make its debut in the PC market with steam that will have an ever-lasting impact.

This feature was first introduced with Mortal Kombat 10 back in 2015, but various complications forced steam to take it down. Ever since, the studio has been secretly working on the project, while the console eco-system managed to successfully integrate it. Now, the project is back on the priority list and it is quite possible that this feature will be rolled out soon.

The studio also wants to shift its focus on bringing the file size of downloads down considerably. Developers understand that it becomes increasingly difficult for gamers to manage inventory space with each new update.

The original size of the game grows exponentially, thereby creating unnecessary files that no longer have any use. This new feature will also target and eradicate such bits and pieces of data and allow you to have more space on your system.
