Dustin Johnson and Patrick Cantlay Snap Back at Absurd Media Questions With Witty Sarcasm

Back in 1979, Europe was included in the Ryder Cup. Since then, the team has won the event 11 times, while the USA has triumphed eight times. The Europeans have been immensely dominant in recent years and have allowed very little winning margin for the U.S. That being said, American golfers, Dustin Johnson and Patrick Cantlay were recently asked about Team Europe’s Ryder Cup wins – the two having their own perfect response ready.

Both Johnson and Cantlay were among players who qualified automatically and will certainly play an important role in the team. While Cantlay is actually one of Team USA’s six Ryder Cup rookies, Johnson has previously been a part of four Ryder Cups. Let’s take a look at what the two players had to say about Europeans winning more.

Patrick Cantlay and Dustin Johnson have fitting responses for the media

“They just play better,” Johnson said when asked why Europe wins more. “Whoever plays better is going to win. I mean, it’s not rocket science”. The 37-year-old veteran’s response was shorter and snappier than Cantlay’s, coming straight to the point about why he thinks the Europeans win.

Out of the four Ryder Cup tournaments Johnson has played, he has won only in 2016. Overall, the Would No. 2 has a 7-9-0 Ryder Cup record and has previously partnered with players like Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk, Matt Kuchar, Brooks Koepka, and Rickie Fowler.

Cantlay’s response was longer, especially as the 29-year-old explained what he thought in detail. “Golf is very chancy,” he started, going on and talking about how chances can flip any time. He asked if one would be surprised if the USA won three in a row, emphasizing that he would not. “You go to Vegas and you play roulette and the chances are 50/50 but skewed toward the house a little, it could hit red six times in a row, but that’s not abnormal,” Cantlay said.

While no one can really predict the result, experts and fans have been concerned over the lack of experience team USA has with six rookies on the squad.
