OUTSTANDING! Andy Murray Thrashes Vasek Pospisil in Straight Sets to Move to the Quarter-Finals at ATP Moselle Open 2021

All the tennis fans who witnessed Andy Murray play Stefanos Tsitsipas in the US Open first round would agree that the Brit raised his level and played with increasing confidence throughout the match. Despite the defeat, Murray got a new lease of motivation as he decided to play back-to-back events going forward.

The first tournament post US open that Murray participated was a Challenger event in Rennes, France. After winning the first round, the former world no.1 lost in the next match to Roman Safiullin. But, Murray didn’t stop as he stayed back in France to play another 250 series event in Metz.

His first-round opponent was the local hero Ugo Humbert. Having never played the Frenchman before, Murray had to really adjust his game and in the process, lost the first set. However, the Brit bounced back to clinch the next two seats and sealed his place in the second round of Moselle Open.

Even the next opponent Murray faced was a tough contender, Vasek Pospisil. The Canadian, who is having a tough time on the ATP tour this year, is looking to find form and close the season on a decent note.

But, Murray was on target with his serve right from the start of the match as he won all the first-serve points in the opening set. Pospisil looked vulnerable on serve as he allowed his opponent to capitalize on poor second serves.

In this way, Murray got himself a couple of break points and went on to clinch the first set, 6-3. But, the Brit was in immediate trouble as he lost the initial game of the second set owing to a below-par service game.

The Canadian took a quick lead of 2-0 in the second set before losing his way once again to Murray. Known for his strong returns, the Brit utilized the chances given by Pospisil on all the second serves and was compensated the break point lost.

When the set was leveled at 2-2, Pospisil failed to make any advances on Murray’s serve as the latter comfortably held his serves. Under pressure, the Canadian began to make more errors from both the wings and eventually lost yet another service game to Andy Murray.

In no time, Murray was able to close out the match comfortably in straight sets, 6-3,6-3 and moved to the quarter-finals in a commanding manner.
