‘I Will Win the Rematch’ – Eddie Hearn Reveals Anthony Joshua’s First Statement After Humiliating Loss

Anthony Joshua isn’t willing to hold back after a humiliating unified heavyweight title loss against Oleksandr Usyk via UD in London. Having suffered adversity in the past, Joshua knows the emotions of losing the top-tier status. That said, he is already looking forward to re-matching his Ukrainian opponent.

Following all 12-rounds of action, Joshua contracted sheer damage and looked beaten to the plump. However, Usyk was still on his feet with a dominant display of prowess in his career-defining matchup. The after-effects of the fight have clearly changed the entire course of the heavyweight division, as Fury vs AJ no longer looks relevant.

While Anthony Joshua looked disappointed on his way out of the ring, Eddie Hearn has already revealed the boxer’s plan on re-conquering the belts. Michael Benson’s social media post reflected a portion of AJ-Hearn conversation from post-fight.

“The fighter in AJ is already talking about, ‘I’ll win the rematch.’ Usyk was the deserved winner. He’s got to make changes in the rematch. He will want to go straight back into that rematch,” said Eddie Hearn.

The re-match clause could be intriguing, but only if Oleksandr Usyk agrees. As for the initial reports, the winner of Usyk vs Josua would face the winner of Fury vs Wilder 3. Thus, the new unified heavyweight champion can look forward to having a shot at the WBC strap next. Meanwhile, Joshua has to go through sheer criticism before he makes the next move of his pro-boxing career.

What’s next for Anthony Joshua?

The 2012 Olympic gold medalist suffered the first loss of his career against an underdog, Andy Ruiz Jr. in June 2019 via TKO. Following the huge upset, ‘AJ’ received an immediate rematch in December. He snatched his lost tiles in a lopsided showdown against Ruiz Jr. and became a 2x unified heavyweight title-holder.

Just one successful fight against Kubrat Pulev after that, he has lost the belts again. The quickest way to becoming a 3x champion will be the rematch against Usyk. If Oleksandr Usyk goes for a four-belt clash, it will leave ‘AJ’ with no title fight on his radar.
