Lewis Hamilton Offers a Worrying Health Update at Russian GP

Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen are back on track again to continue the closely contested title fight. This time, the gladiators face off at Sochi, for the Russian GP.

The last clash between these two didn’t quite end the way that they would have like to, with Hamilton and Verstappen crashing into each other at the Turn 1-2 chicane during the Italian GP at Monza. However, Lewis Hamilton might not be in the best of conditions, physically.

Leading up to the Russian GP, after completing the first two Free Practice sessions, Lewis Hamilton informed that he was facing difficulties with his neck, an after-effect of the Monza Crash.

The Russian GP started off on a good note for the defending champion Lewis Hamilton, as he finished both the practice sessions in P2, ahead of his title rival Max Verstappen, who could manage a P3 and a P6 in the two practice sessions.

Lewis posted a story on Instagram where he said, “Hey guys, today’s been a good day, generally. Some work to do on the car.

However, fans were a little worried because Lewis also complained about some discomfort in his neck.

Still some discomfort from my neck on my first time back in the car at racing speed. Will be working with the engineers tonight on the set-up and Angela Cullen on the neck to make sure we’re in the best shape for tomorrow and Sunday. Sending positivity.”

Lewis had previously mentioned that he was feeling okay

When asked previously if he was suffering from any after-effects from the Monza crash, Lewis had commented, “No, luckily not. I spent a whole week with Angela [Cullen, LH’s physical therapist] – she was supposed to come home but stayed to help me. Lots of yoga, lots of exercises and it’s OK.”

However, it’s pretty evident that once back in his car and facing all the G-force, Hamilton does feel some discomfort. We, as fans, can only hope that this does not affect the championship fight at all. If they wish to aim for the trophy, these two great drivers need to give it their maximum effort.
