Sergio Garcia Spits Drink in Amusement Watching Brooks Koepka Argue at Ryder Cup 2020

The Ryder Cup is never without excellent golf and some drama on the side. This time, the Americans have been on the winning side right since the beginning. Furthermore, Brooks Koepka got into an argument with the officials during one of his matches, successfully eliciting a response from the opposing team’s Sergio Garcia.

Daniel Berger and Koepka’s match against Jon Rahm and Garcia got as tense as it could, especially when Koepka began to argue. Garcia’s reaction also caught everyone’s attention, many finding it extremely hilarious.

On opening day, Koepka’s morning foursome went in a way no one expected it to. On the 15th hole, they ended up encountering some issues. Koepka ended up calling the authorities over, inspecting the drainage area that he thought would interfere with his swings. Over time, all players gathered around Koepka going back and forth with the officials.

Garcia was the one who took a sip while the argument was going on, promptly spitting it out. The officials refused to budge, stating that while Koepka believed that the drainage area was indeed an obstruction, it would not affect his swing. Koepka had an interesting response – “You don’t think my club might hit right there? Have you ever seen me hit a ball?”

“I’ve seen you hit plenty of them, yeah,” the official said in response to Koepka’s reply.

Koepka ended up hitting the ball, their team managing to tie the hole. The Europeans, however, ended up beating them 3&1. The two were also the only European pair that won on Day 1.
