Former Lakers Trainer Explains How Michael Jordan Became a ‘Monster’ on the Court

When Michael Jordan began his career, no one could have predicted what he would achieve in basketball. An extremely talented rookie, Jordan worked hard and moved forward till he was winning back-to-back titles with the Chicago Bulls.

Jordan’s time with the Bulls is considered his peak and dominated almost everyone during that time.

While speaking on the Scoop B Radio, former Los Angeles Lakers trainer Gary Vitti spoke about Jordan and his game. Here’s what the trainer had to say about Jordan.

What did ex-Lakers trainer Gary Vitti have to say about Jordan?

Ex-Lakers trainer Gary Vitti on MJ’s game: “He was a monster.”

“He was a great player and had great respect for him but my respect really went up, his stock went up with me in the 91 finals when he took over. He was literally unstoppable.”

“He was a monster,” said Vitti, still in awe of Jordan’s game years after his final retirement. “He was a great player and had great respect for him but my respect really went up. His stock went up with me in the 91 finals when he took over. He was literally unstoppable”.

If one takes a look at Jordan’s incredible career. Then the adjectives Vitti used to describe Jordan must be considered accurate.

How good was Michael Jordan?

Jordan averaged 30.1 points per game during his NBA career, along with 6.2 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game. Picked third during the 1984 NBA Draft, Jordan started his NBA career in Chicago by taking home the Rookie of the Year honor.

As years went by, Jordan’s game kept improving. He won the Finals MVP six times, and the NBA MVP award five times.

In 1993, Jordan retired for the first time from the NBA. He came back in 1995, winning another three-peat. He retired again after 1998, and this time he returned with the Washington Wizards. While it was not the same Jordan at the peak, he remained one of the better players in the league.

Jordan finally retired for one last time in 2003. The GOAT debates became common after Jordan’s retirement, with fans often comparing the late Kobe Bryant or Lakers star LeBron James to Jordan. While James is still active, loyal fans believe that what Jordan did throughout the 90s makes him the greatest of all time.
