Is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar the GOAT Over Michael Jordan? Former Lakers Trainer Believes So

Most basketball players will all agree that the greatest player to do it is Michael Jordan. The Chicago legend was the true embodiment of a winner. With an attitude of a killer and the skills to back it up, it is no surprise that he gets that honor. In addition, his perfect record in the finals adds value as well.

However, not everyone is on the same page. While Jordan may have the majority, LeBron James is climbing up as well. With the primary focus on these two, older players often go unnoticed. Recently, one person opened up and called one of the older players the greatest of all time.

Ex Lakers trainer, Gary Vitti said that he feels Kareem Abdul Jabbar is the greatest of all time. He picked the legend over Michael Jordan and LeBron James.

Vitti picks Kareem over Michael Jordan as the greatest

Gary Vitti made his pick for the greatest of all time with 6 time NBA champion, Kareem Abdul Jabbar. The Lakers legend has his name as one of the greatest college basketball players ever, and he continued in the same manner. He is the current most successful scorer in the league. But Vitti believes he is head and shoulders above the rest.

Gary Vitti commented: “I think Kareem is the greatest athlete of all time. Way beyond anybody else that has ever played any sport.”

There is nothing wrong in having Kareem as his GOAT, but to state that he is way above the rest could be a stretch. Michael Jordan may not have as many points, but he is still one of the most prolific scorers in the game. His ability to win and perform in clutch moments put him on par with all elite players that have graced the floor.

Moreover, players such as Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell should also be mentioned. These two provided the foundation for players to grow. Russell made winning his only mission while Chamberlain was a freak. Modern-day players such as LeBron James are also not far off. James has made his way into all major stats, and is close to beating Kareem for most points in the NBA.
