‘Fair To Be Pissed Off’: Joel Embiid Clarifies His Stance on Asking Philadelphia Fans To Be Better

From Ben Simmons asking for a transfer to their rebuilding plan, Philadelphia 76ers have been in the highlight lately. Philly’s star player Embiid previously headlined asking the team fans to be better on Twitter, so he recently elaborated on his statement.

Philadelphia is a city close to sports and that is evident during NBA games. Last season, the Sixers were defeated by a young Hawks roster in the eastern conference semifinals. The players and management have been facing issues ever since then.

When Joel Embiid asked Philly fans to ‘be better’

Amidst the tension of Ben Simmons asking for a trade from Philadelphia, Embiid got into the debate as well. The 76ers forward targeted Philadelphia’s fans by tweeting on his official account.

I haven’t forgotten but 2 years ago, I got booed, people in Philly wanted me to be traded. I even shushed them. Only the real ones didn’t but I just put the work in that offseason to be better cuz I knew I wasn’t playing up to my potential. Philly fans, y’all also gotta be better

Fans have the right to expect from their team, says Embiid

After Embiid’s statement on his fans, he clarified his stance recently. “The fans have the right to act the way the want to. Personally, I would not like to be in another city… Only fair for them to be pissed off when we lose…They work hard for the money they make…”

Last season, Joel Embiid was actively part of the MVP race, averaging 28.5 points during the regular season. While his individual record was exceptional, 76ers as a team fell short in front of Trae Young’s army.

After these conversations between the All-star and his fans, Embiid agrees with the disappointment shown towards their home team. Well, he’s asking for a little leeway amidst the chaos.
