Mel C got the ultimate vote of support after performing a routine to Beatles classic Here Comes The Sun on Dancing With The Stars this week, when Ringo Starr sent her a ‘surreal’ congratulatory message.

Spice Girl Mel, full name Melanie Chisholm, danced a foxtrot with pro partner Gleb Savchenko, but couldn’t have expected a legend from the band itself to share his thoughts on the performance.

Ringo gave a shout out to Mel and their shared hometown Liverpool, saying: ‘I just wanted to say best of luck tonight. I send you peace and love and all the best!’

Mel was delighted to see the message from the 81-year-old, and she could barely contain her excitement.

‘This whole experience is surreal,’ she said.

It brought her luck when it came to the judges scores too, as she received a solid 30 out of 40.

She learned she was safe from elimination and taking part in next week’s episode, which will be a special Britney Spears-themed week.

The judges had some very positive feedback too, with Derek Hough saying: ‘Melanie, you are a gorgeous dancer. So clean, so effortless.’

Len Goodman also had a Beatles-themed joke to make and added: ‘That certainly wasn’t a Hard Day’s Night!’

So far on the programme Mel C has paid homage to her Spice Girls roots, but not everyone has enjoyed such an carefree time on the programme.

Dancing With The Stars professional dancer Cheryl Burke recently tested positive for Covid just one day before the next live show.

The 37-year-old, who is partnered with Peleton instructor Cody Rigsby for this year’s 30th season, broke the news in an emotional video shared on Instagram.

Dancing With the Stars continues at 8pm on Saturday on ABC in the US.
