Mick Schumacher Believes His Father Michael & Lewis Hamilton are Exception to This F1 Rule

After winning the Formula 2 championship last season, Mick Schumacher brought in a lot of potential to the F1 grid. However, in his first season with Haas, the German driver has been struggling to make an impact.

The Haas rookie knows it is extremely difficult to hit the ground running in your first season. But does give credit to his dad, Michael Schumacher, and Lewis Hamilton who were exceptional from the minute they stepped onto the grid.

It is understandable that to make an impact in your first year in Formula One is extremely challenging. Hence, Schumacher Jr gives credit to his dad and Hamilton but knows that things were different back then compared to present times.

Speaking on the podcast, On the Fast Lane, Mick said, “Well, I think is very rare that people come into Formula One, and actually really straight away drive in the front. The only one I can think of right now is for example, Lewis, my dad; obviously back then times were a bit different then now.”

“But, I think it is just conscious about what is happening and conscious that this is reality. And, obviously it is easy to adapt to, and if you say it was expected for us to be in the front all time, and now we are suddenly at the back. Obviously, that is not great, and then you know we get frustrated. But, we had that expectation I knew it was going to be difficult, and again we just had ourselves different targets, and motivate ourselves that way,” Mick concluded.

How’s Schumacher Jr doing this season?

The German driver was hoping to have a better first season in F1 than he is currently having. As it stands, Schumacher Jr has zero points under his belt and has his best finish at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix where he placed 13th.

With a few more races to go this season, Schumacher Jr will be hoping to bring his A-game and secure some points for himself, and his American-owned team.
