Grizzlies’ Ja Morant Reveals What Would Happen If He Ever Got to Dunk on LeBron James

Young players took over last season in the NBA. The new generation of players are really showing their talents and making a name for themselves. One such player is former Rookie of the Year, Ja Morant. In a recent interview, Morant admitted that one player he would like to dunk on would be LeBron James.

Now entering his third season, Morant is one of the most exciting plyers to watch in the league. His athleticism is one of the best in the NBA as he can jump out of the arena to catch a dunk. Moreover, his ability to finish at the rim and make shots in the clutch is already on display.

However, one place he has been unlucky is finishing posters. There were many moments throughout the season where Morant could have had one of the best dunks in history, but fell just short. When Morant was asked about a dream player to dunk on, he chose the ‘King’.

Morant chooses LeBron James as his dream target

In an interview, Morant said that one player he would love to dunk on would be LeBron James himself. While it is no mean feat, Morant is definitely capable, given his insane ability to get off the ground. However, Ja said that he would go so overboard with his celebrations that it would probably lead to him getting a technical foul.

Morant said: “I’d probably get that poster and like, just put it soon as you walk in my house. I’d probably have it all over the wall. Just like cuz it’s LeBron. I remember watching when Tatum actually dunked on him. Like I don’t know what I would have done in that moment. Like, I can do a regular dunk and I’ll be screaming for about three or four seconds and be behind the play. So like, if I actually dunk on LeBron, I would probably get a tech.”

This isn’t a surprise, as getting the ‘King’ is a big thing. Not many players have successfully done it so far. One of them, as Morant mentioned, was Jayson Tatum way back in James’ second stint with Cleveland. Hence, it’s understandable why it would be a big deal for a young star.

Judging by Morant’s abilities, he is yet to develop into his prime. Despite that, he led the Grizzles to the playoffs and even became the second youngest player to have 45 points in a playoff game behind LeBron James. He went on to put up 30.2 points and 8 assists since his first ever playoff run. Morant is clearly on his way to become the next big thing in basketball, regardless of whether he gets to dunk on LeBron or not.
