Naomi Osaka Receives Unique Honor in Top Magazine

At 23-years-old, Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka is already in the big league of women’s tennis. She is often considered one of the greatest tennis players in the present era. But more than anything, it is Osaka’s personality on and off the court that has gained her millions of fans worldwide. Consequently, Elle magazine decided to honor her in Disney’s Ultimate Princess Celebration campaign.

Notably, it is a campaign where Elle pays tribute to the real-life heroes and heroines who have made a difference in the world. As Osaka stood up for her mental health and withdrew from French Open 2021, she was the perfect candidate for the honor.

Naomi Osaka reveals her favorite Disney Princess

Firstly, the four-time Grand Slam champion opened up on her being herself without conforming. That is why Naomi Osaka makes her decisions for herself despite any criticism.

“Being authentically myself is the value I most strive for,” Osaka said. “I’ve never wanted to feel pressured into conforming to what other people think I should be.”

Furthermore, the 23-year-old Japanese revealed why Ariel is her favorite Disney princess. “My sister Mari and I watched The Little Mermaid millions of times growing up,” Osaka said. She also added that Mulan is the princess she relates to the most today.

Above all, the reigning Australian Open champion makes the most of the stage she has got. And, she keeps finding ways to include her multicultural ethnic background in everything she does.

Hence, she established the Play Academy in Japan, Los Angeles, and Haiti. It is an initiative to encourage and support young girls in sports. Osaka has plans to take the concept all over the world.

Osaka withdraws from Indian Wells

Tennis-wise, Osaka hasn’t been herself since the Australian Open 2021 triumph. She has only played limited tournaments and is currently on an indefinite break from the sport.

Before this, the Japanese star lost in her title-defending campaign at the US Open 2021 to 19-year-old Leylah Fernandez. After the match, she decided to take her second break of the season.

The good news is that Osaka recently revealed that she has the “itch” to play again soon. But only time will tell when she decides to step on the tennis courts again.
