Fans Trash Boxing Prospect Edgar Berlanga for Calling Out Canelo Alvarez

Edgar Berlanga scored a gratifying win on Wilder vs Fury card, and he bagged the vacant WBO NABO super-middleweight title. He’s hung around the 168-pound roster for a while and the knockout king was desperately in search of a win and of a title. Now that he has one title under his wing, the young gun would like to make the most out of it by fighting the champions in his division.

For now, though, the title picture in the super-middleweight division is sealed as the champs, Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant are slated to face each other on November 6. However, Berlanga wants to get his hands on Canelo and test his prowess.

But, ‘The Chosen One’s’ notion of fighting Canelo didn’t go well with the fans. That said, a few fans even took to Twitter to mock Berlanga.

Just like the above two, a few more fans shared their reactions. “Hopefully after this Berlanga stops calling out Canelo! Stay in your lane, dude. And stop with the monster nonsense. There’s only one monster, and that’s Inoue!” wrote another fan.

Is Edgar Berlanga really ready to face Canelo Alvarez?

Berlanga in his fight with Coceres was the aggressor, and he landed enough punches to get over the line. However, the Argentinian boxer dropped Berlanga in round 9 of their 10-round fight.

This certainly exposed ‘The Chosen One’s’ game plan, and it’s clear that he’s not ready to face someone at the level of Canelo.

That said, Berlanga has umpteen hurdles to pass in the 168-pound roster. And before he faces Canelo Alvarez, he should look to battle other bigwigs in the division like David Benavidez, Daniel Jacobs, and more.
