Angela Black viewers think they’ve cracked chilling Ed twist ahead of episode 2
Is Ed really legit? (Picture: ITV)
Angela Black viewers are convinced they’ve discovered a savage twist concerning Ed after watching the first episode on Sunday.
The new Joanne Froggatt series kicked off last night and follows Angela (played by Froggatt), a woman with a seemingly idyllic home life and charismatic husband Olivier (played by Michiel Huisman).
However, it’s not long before viewers see through the façade and discover that Angela is also the victim of domestic abuse, with her husband striking her during a brutal attack.
Later in the episode, Angela is seen arriving at work and lying about the injuries inflicted on her, saying her bruised mouth was sustained when her son accidentally hit her in the face with a door.
However, at a pub, she then came across a concerned stranger – who turned out to be private investigator Ed (Sam Adewunmi) – who quizzed her on the injury. Again, Angela lied and said it was a ‘drunk idiot’ who hit her in a fight.
It soon also transpired that Oliver, who is trying to divorce Angela, has hired Ed to dig up dirt on her so that he could go for sole custody of their two children.
Viewers have come up with a plausible theory (Picture: ITV)
The episode ended with Ed turning up at Angela’s house and claiming that Oliver wants her dead.
Angela refused to believe Ed, despite his pleas to take urgent action and his disturbing claims that Oliver had already killed off one of his colleagues after she threatened to expose their affair.
It wasn’t just Angela having doubts though, as viewers also shared their theories on the Ed situation.
Many believe that a major twist is on the horizon as they reckon Ed doesn’t actually exist and is just a figment of her imagination.
‘Ed isn’t real she’s made him up to cope with the trauma,’ one guessed. ‘That’s why he can’t follow the husband.’
Echoing a similar sentiment, another penned: ‘Yep I’m convinced that this fella doesn’t really exist.’
Perhaps viewers will have a deeper understanding of who Ed is when Angela Black returns on Sunday.

‘After Ed’s claims about her husband confirm her worst fears, Angela is left reeling and struggles to keep up the facade with Olivier and the boys, while Ed wants her to join forces with him to take action’, the synopsis for episode two teases.
