Chicago White Sox Ended THIS Postseason Drought With Convincing Victory Over Houston Astros

After losing the first two games in the ALDS against the Houston Astros, the Chicago White Sox found themselves in a do-or-die situation in Game 3 yesterday. Yesterday, in front of their beloved fans at the Guaranteed Rate Field, the White Sox recorded a crucial win to stay alive.

While they halved their deficit in this series, they also recorded their first postseason victory at home in over a decade.

The Chicago White Sox recorded their first home playoff victory in 13 years

The White Sox started the game well, scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning to go 1-0 up. However, the Astros responded emphatically in the next two innings. While their pitchers prevented the White Sox from scoring, their hitters scored five runs to give them a 5-1 lead after the top of the third inning.

Despite this setback, the home team staged an impressive comeback starting from the bottom of the third. Yasmani Grandal smashed a two-run home run to reduce the Astros’ lead to 5-3. Later in the same inning, Leury Garcia smashed a 96mph pitch from Yimi Garcia straight over the wall on center field. This resulted in a three-run home run for the White Sox which gave them a 6-5 lead.

The Astros then tied the game 6-6 in the top of the fourth inning as Alex Bregman drove an RBI. However, the White Sox pulled away from the bottom of the fourth, scoring three runs to move up 9-6. They then scored three more runs in the bottom of the eighth to see out an impressive 12-6 victory, which marked their first postseason victory in Chicago since 2008.

Their last home postseason victory came against the Tampa Bay Rays in the ALDS that year, when they faced the same situation. Ultimately, they lost the series 3-1 to the Rays that year.

Game 4 to take place later today

Although their victory over the Astros reduced the deficit, the White Sox still face a win or go home situation in Game 4. However, this victory could give them much needed confidence to produce another crucial result later today.

Should the White Sox win today’s game, both teams will be in a do-or-die situation in Houston on Wednesday, October 13. Whether Game 5 will be needed in this series, only time will tell.
