GMB’s Richard Madeley ‘tested torches’ over fears of blackout amid energy crisis

RICHARD Madeley has admitted he’s been preparing for a blackout this winter amid the energy crisis.

The Good Morning Britain presenter told how he’s been putting making sure he’s got torches to see in the dark – just in case there’s a power outage.

RIchard Madeley is worrying about the energy crisis

“Do you know what I did this weekend?”, Richard said on today’s show.

“Despite being reassured that the power will absolutely not go off this winter, I went to check on my hurricane lamps.

“That’s what I found myself doing.

“I checked to see if I had some and checked the batteries in the torch.

“I’ve now not got confidence in the reassurances we’re getting.”

Rishi Sunak is being urged to slash VAT on gas and ditch green levies to help Brits over the energy crisis.

Suppliers are calling on the Chancellor to end the eco taxes which add £150 a year to bills.

Gas prices, already at record levels, are likely to shoot up in April and new eco-levies are coming in.
