It is a known fact that Mercedes and Red Bull Racing are in the middle of an intense battle for both the F1 championship titles this season. But, interestingly, that’s not it! The duo is amidst a banter war on social media as well.

After Mercedes’ Tweet ahead of the Turkish Grand Prix, reckoning a tough ‘special’ weekend for Red Bull, the latter pulled off a stunning double-podium to prove their rivals wrong. “[2 trophies] in a special livery? We tried that once,” Red Bull wrote on social media.

Mercedes’ 2019 misery at Hockenheim

Mercedes arguably owns the best social media team in Formula 1. And the moment the paddock heard about forthcoming Red Bull’s ‘special livery’, Mercedes’ social media handler couldn’t resist but take a jab at the Milton Keynes outfit.

Mercedes took Red Bull down the memory lane over how special liveries can backfire horribly on the track. In this case, the 2019 German Grand Prix, where Mercedes celebrated their 125th year in motorsports. One would have wondered, ‘how bad can a weekend go for a team as strong as Mercedes?’

While Valtteri Bottas crashed out of the race, Lewis Hamilton looked like the lone savior, but the feeling lasted hardly for a few laps, as he too crashed, and luckily came home in P9.

Hence, with such a horrible weekend at the back of their head, the team posted on social media. “Special livery? We tried that once. We looked good, but, at what cost?

Red Bull F1 bite back at rivals

Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez rounded off a strong Sunday afternoon at Istanbul Park to claim a total of 33 points for the team. The latter, especially, was on fire during the latter part of the race and managed to steal the final podium spot from Charles Leclerc.

Hence, after pulling off such a strong weekend, Red Bull decided to take a reverse dig at their rivals, Mercedes. They wrote on social media, “Curse? What curse? Rounding off a great weekend for the Bulls.”

Overall, Red Bull had been yearning for a driver like Perez all these years. And look what managed to do, ultimately! The Mexican played a crucial role in Verstappen finishing ahead of the Briton; Perez held Hamilton up so Verstappen could pull away.

So, are we in for more such team works in the coming races? Can Perez and Verstappen, together, secure the latter his first world championship title?
