Trainer Reveals What He Told Tyson Fury After Deontay Wilder Dropped Him Twice

Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder went head-to-head for the third time on Saturday night. ‘The Bronze Bomber’ showed a lot of heart in the fight; however, Tyson Fury outclassed him throughout. The Gypsy King’ knocked out Deontay Wilder in round 11 and retained his WBC heavyweight world title.

After getting dropped in round 3, Deontay Wilder made a comeback in round 4 and dropped Fury back twice. In a recent interview, Tyson Fury‘s coach, Sugar Hill Steward revealed what he told Fury after round 4.

He said that he did not discuss anything about the knockdown. Instead, Sugar Hill just gave him directions on how to proceed further and how to counter Wilder’s approaches.

“It wasn’t about the knockdown, it was just me giving him directions on how to fight, what to do, I don’t remember saying anything about a knockdown like ‘oh watch out for this’, it was just, you know, get back to boxing,” said Sugar Hill.

Will Tyson Fury fight Usyk for the undisputed status next?

With a third win over Deontay Wilder, the boxing community has labeled Tyson Fury as the greatest heavyweight of this generation. But is he really?

It is important to note that he has secured back-to-back wins including the recent title defense against a single fighter. However, there are new fishes in the heavyweight ocean- Oleksandr Usyk, Dillian Whyte, Otto Walin, Anthony Joshua, etc.

With his recent win over Anthony Joshua, Oleksandr Usyk is now the unified king of the division. Fans now want Fury to directly jump into the undisputed clash against the Ukrainian.

However, it does not seem like that is currently an option on the table. According to Eddie Hearn, Joshua and Usyk are already set for a rematch in spring next year.

Since Joshua has now triggered the rematch clause with Usyk, there might only be one fight in sight for Tyson Fury- the winner of Whyte vs Walin.

Prior to Wilder vs Fury 3, the WBC had stated the winner (Fury) would have an option to opt for an undisputed clash with Usyk within 30 days.

The other option forces Fury to face a mandatory challenger; this mandatory opponent will come from the winner of the upcoming December bout between Dillian Whyte and Otto Walin.
