Veronica Green has thanked Nicola Coughlan for a ‘heartfelt letter’ the guest judge left her after she was eliminated from RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.

The queen was eliminated in episode three of the third season of Drag Race UK, after first being unable to continue competing in season two due to testing positive for Covid-19.

The fan favourite admitted she felt ‘held back’ throughout the series, and said that, on reflection, she should not have accepted the invitation to appear in series three as she was struggling with personal issues.

‘Going back into the race for a second time was tough mentally, physically and financially,’ she wrote in a statement following her elimination.

‘I had already spent every penny I had on my season 2 runways & hadn’t worked for a year, so pulling looks together was stressful & difficult.’

‘My mental health was still not in a good place & wasn’t something I could just flip off with a switch’, she added.

Fans of the show were devastated to see Veronica go, along with guest judge Nicola.

Veronica took to Twitter where she said she wanted to ‘publicly thank @nicolacoughlan for the most genuine, heartfelt letter she left me after my elimination.

‘At the time I didn’t want to talk to anyone, but reading your note really emotionally helped me that night.

‘I still have it at home and re-read it from time to time.’

Nicola, known for her roles in Derry Girls and Bridgerton, and who is a long-time fan of the show, replied:

‘Oh love you’re so welcome, my heart broke for you that day.

‘I hope you’ve seen how much your journey means to people and that you’re so proud of all you achieved on the show and all you’ve yet to achieve.’

The sweet interaction caused an outpouring of love from Drag Race fans, with one person responding: ‘Great, just when I thought I couldn’t love you two even more.’

And former Drag Race UK contestant Divina de Campo said Nicola was ‘not only a proper sweetie but also The Moment!’
