When LeBron James & Chris Paul Dominated Fellow High Schoolers During the 2003 All-American Game

In a league like the NBA, sustaining primes is a challenging task. While some superstars become a role player after 6-7 years of their peak, only a handful of them continue to dominate the age despite their age. The two names that come to mind in the current NBA are that of LeBron James and Chris Paul.

Drafted in 2003 and 2005 respectively, Bron and CP3 have been one of the best players of their generation. Be it LeBron’s incredible all-round play and Paul coming up with incredible passing ability, the duo have dominated the league for a while now.

While many players of their draft class have either retired or have become role players, the two lottery picks are still the top players in their respective teams. While the two are rivals on the court, their connection goes way back to 2003.

When Chris Paul and LeBron James dominated the McDonald’s All-American game

Chris Paul and LeBron James might have been drafted two years apart, but they are of the same high school class. Given how talented both the players were, it was a no brainer that the duo was invited in the McDonald’s All-American game.

Playing alongside some of the biggest talents from high school, pressure was high on ‘King James‘ and CP3. Playing for team East, Bron and Paul started off the game in fantastic fashion. With CP3 setting up Bron for a fantastic alley-oop, it was clear where the game was headed to.

The now 4-time MVP bullied his way to the basket many times and was always there to complete Paul’s alley oops. Finishing the game with 27 points, 7 assists and 7 rebounds, Bron deservedly won the MVP trophy.

CP3 meanwhile showcased why he was one of the top recruits for the point guard spot as he ended the game with 10 assists. 18 years later, LeBron and CP3 are battling out with each other with two top teams in the West.

We might not see them play with each other anytime soon, but the battles they have with one another have been a treat. Given how legendary the duo’s careers have been, a Hall of Fame nomination is guaranteed, but can the two add some more accolades in the twilight of their careers?
