Leon Edwards and Jorge Masvidal finally get to settle the scores inside an octagon

The feud between Edwards and Masvidal goes all the way back to March 2019. ‘Gamebred’ headlined a fight night card in London where he secured a knockout win over hometown hero Darren Till. During a post-fight interview, after his win, Masvidal was interrupted by Edwards. ‘Gamebred’ walked up to ‘Rocky’ and unleashed the now famous ‘three-piece and a soda’ combination.

Since the incident, Edwards has been chomping at the bit to exact revenge against Jorge Masvidal. ‘Gambred’ is currently on a two-fight skid. He suffered a lopsided unanimous decision, followed by a brutal knockout. Both at the hands of Kamaru Usman. ‘Gamebred’ stated that his plans were to fight whoever gets him closer to the title shot once again.

After his win over Nate Diaz, which was his ninth win in a row, many believed Leon Edwards would be next in line for a title shot. However, Colby Covington was awarded his rematch, which meant Edwards would have to secure yet another win to be able to fight for undisputed UFC gold.

Leon Edwards initially stated that he had no interest in facing Jorge Masvidal, given his recent record. The two men went back and forth on social media multiple times. However, fans will be relieved to know that the fight is now a done deal. December 11th can not get here soon enough.
