‘Going to Call Woj’: Doc Rivers Reacts to Ben Simmons’s Return to Philadelphia 76ers

Ben Simmons is finally back in Philadelphia after a long standoff with the city-based franchise. The saga started when he expressed his desire to leave the Sixers in August. There have been a lot of developments since then, but there’s still a lot of confusion about this issue.

However, lately, there have been some positive updates on Ben. Yesterday, it was reported that Simmons can report to his team soon. But the Sixers are searching for a potential suitor for Ben if they get an equally good player in exchange.

There are a lot of matters to be resolved, but Simmons playing for the Sixers this season is closer than it was in the last two months. Coach Doc Rivers recently appeared in an interview and talked about Simmons’ return to Philadelphia.

Doc Rivers opens up on the return of Ben Simmons

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Ben Simmons has already arrived in Philadelphia and is following all the NBA protocols. The Sixers want him back on the court for them this season. Doc Rivers reacted to this news recently in an interview.

“It sounds like I think he (Ben Simmons) did his COVID test today from reports,” Doc Rivers said.

Doc Rivers is closely following Simmons’ situation and has already said that he wants Simmons back. After reacting to the news of Simmons’ return, Doc joked about ESPN journalist Adrian Wojnarowski, nicknamed Woj.

“For which I’m going to call Woj (Adrian Wojnarowski) and find out what’s going on,” Doc Rivers jokingly said.

“But yeah, it seems like it, which is good.”

The Ben Simmons saga has been stretched for too long. After two months of a standoff between the franchise and the player, it appears that Ben may come back to the team. However, according to reports, the Sixers didn’t know that Ben was coming back to Philadelphia.

Earlier this month, the Sixers withheld 25% of Ben Simmons’ 2021-22 season salary that was due, which is around $8.25 million. He still has four more years on his contract. But if he returns to the Sixers this season, he’s going to have a bad time at the Wells Fargo Center with all the fans in the arena. But this is not the biggest problem – the next problem they need to tackle is making sure he gets along with his teammates, such as Joel Embiid.
