‘He’s a Horrible Fighter’ – Canelo Alvarez Berates Demetrius Andrade

Canelo Alvarez will face Caleb Plant on November 6. The two super middleweights will battle for the crown of ‘undisputed’. The Victor of the unification fight will make history as the first super middleweight in boxing history.

Many believe Canelo Alvarez goes into the fight as the favorite. Things have already heated up between the two as they threw hands during their press conference.

Recently, the current WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight champion of the world came on ‘The Last Stand’ podcast hosted by Brian Custer. “No, he’s a horrible fighter, and I never want to fight with him,” said Canelo when asked about potentially fighting Demetrius Andrade one of these days. “He’s [not] fought with anybody.”

Andrade, who is the current WBO middleweight champion of the world, won the belt back in 2018. However, since then, the middleweight champ has not fought any real contenders, for which he receives a lot of criticism from fans and analysts alike.

It also remains very unlikely that Canelo will ever fight the WBO champion. As Alvarez has his eyes on making historic fights after the Caleb ‘Sweet hands’ Plant fight.

“I just want to fight the fights that the people want and make history. That’s all that I want, so we’ll see after the fight. I like being active, and I love fighting a lot. I want to fight three times, four times a year. For me, it’s good.” Canelo said.

Becoming undisputed means a lot to Canelo Alvarez

When asked about what being undisputed means to him, Canelo said, “It means a lot to my legacy. This fight is really important to us, for me, for Mexico, for my fans, and my team because I’m going to be the first Mexican Latin American fighter to be the undisputed champion.” If Canelo does pull it off, he will become the first boxer to become the undisputed super middleweight champion.

However, his opponent will make sure Canelo does not get to make history so easily. Ever since Canelo lost to Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather, only one fighter has come close to giving him good competition. That is the Russian Gennady ‘Triple G’ Golovkin. And now Plant will look to give Canelo his second career loss on November 6.
