Inside Adele’s transformation since last album as she prepares to release new single

Adele is getting ready to have the entire world sobbing into freshly poured wine glasses as she releases new single Easy On Me on Friday.
It has been six years since the 33-year-old last blessed us with new music, with third album 25 breaking records on its way up the charts in 2015.
But a lot has changed in that time between, with the Hello singer marrying Simon Konecki, who she shares son Angelo with, before calling time on their relationship.
Like we said, a lot has gone down between her releases, but if you’ve forgotten much of it – and who could blame you? – we’ve got you covered.
Secret wedding and divorce from Simon Konecki
Adele is known for keeping much of her private life firmly behind closed doors and bolted shut, with very little known about her family.

In fact, she managed to do the impossible when she married now ex-husband Simon under all our noses – with everyone wrongly-convinced that they had tied the knot two years before.
Appearing on stage to take home a much-deserved Grammy Award in 2017, she gave a shout-out to her ‘husband’, leading us all to believe that they had said their vows before this.
However, it turns out that they actually made things official in 2018 and split the following year.
Their divorce was finalised earlier this year, with the break-up of their marriage thought to be the subject of many of the singer’s upcoming songs.
‘We got married when I was 30… and then I left,’ she said to British Vogue of their marriage ending, adding that it ‘wasn’t very long’.
When pressed on the reason for their split, she insisted that ‘nothing bad happened’, but she realised that it just wasn’t right for her anymore.
Move to LA
The pair are still in contact, with Simon moving in across the road from her in sunny LA, so that they can remain close for Angelo.
While the Someone Like You singer misses London, she moved to the US permanently for a better quality of life, as well as being able to enjoy the type of home that she couldn’t achieve in the UK without dropping hundreds of millions of pounds.
New romance with Rich Paul

LA is also home to her new partner, Rich Paul, who she started dating this year.
The lovebirds had kept things largely under wraps for months but made their first public appearance together at a basketball game in July – and have been inseparable ever since.
In fact, they took things up a notch as they attended the wedding of NBA player Anthony Davis last month, making things Instagram official with a loved-up photobooth snap.
Weight loss and transformation
Adele has also undergone a transformation over the last few years, and turned to fitness when she became anxious.
She revealed her new look on Instagram after laying low on social media, sharing a snap of herself living her best life while at Drake’s birthday party in 2019.
This sparked many, many articles, think-pieces, discussions and questions over what led to her weight loss.
Speaking in the candid chat with the fashion bible, she explained that she lost 100lbs (seven stone), but vowed it was ‘never about losing weight’, instead she wanted to become ‘strong’ and stay off her phone as much as possible.
‘I got quite addicted to it. I work out two or three times a day,’ she said. ‘I do my weights in the morning, then I normally hike or I box in the afternoon, and then I go and do my cardio at night. I was basically unemployed when I was doing it. And I do it with trainers.’
Discussing the reaction from fans, she added: ‘I did it for myself and not anyone else. So why would I ever share it? I don’t find it fascinating. It’s my body.’
New music
One thing she has happily shared with fans is her new music, and even went live on Instagram to play a snippet of her new song for followers.
Side note: To say we were unprepared for the emotions that the all-too-brief clip gave us is a total understatement.
Letting slip on what we can all expect from her upcoming album – aside from a river of tears – she said that she got into the studio for her son, to hopefully answer some of the questions he had over his parents’ divorce.
As well as emotional lyrics and ballads, we can expect the fingerprints of Greg Kurstin and Max Martin among others but – following the theme of her previous albums – a featured artist or musical collaboration is nowhere to be found.
Basically it will just be Adele’s booming voice, a few select instruments and our feelings – and we cannot wait.
