‘It Is Very Difficult’- New PSG Signing Unhappy With Squad Playing Time

After 30 long years of wait, Liverpool FC finally won their first title in the Premier League. The same group of players also won the Champions League in 2019. Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Sadio Mane are the show stoppers in the Liverpool XI, but there is another player whose contributions cannot be overlooked, Georginio Wijnaldum. After his successful years with Liverpool, the Dutchman moved to PSG this summer.

However, his time with the club has been unconvincing. An ever-present in the Liverpool side, Gini has been scarcely involved with PSG, a transition which has been difficult to make.

Georginio Wijnaldum opens up on PSG troubles

The Dutch midfielder has not scored or assisted for his new club, Paris Saint Germain. As many new recruits take time to gel, he opened up on not getting the playing time he wanted. Wijnaldum stated that he had big ambitions when he moved to Paris, but so far, those dreams haven’t come to fruition.

“I can’t say I’m completely happy, because the situation is not what I wanted. I have played a lot in recent years, was always fit, and also did very well. This is something different, and that takes getting used to. I was really looking forward to the new step and then this happens. It is very difficult,” said Wijnaldum.

He has made six starts this season for the club. PSG signed the player to produce dynamism and industry that lacked in their midfield. With a ridiculously talented roster to choose from, Gini hasn’t been able to cement his spot in the starting XI of manager Mauricio Pochettino. However, he does offer an incredible range of skills in versatile positions and should, sooner rather than later, be able to prove his worth in the set-up. Hopefully, he can soon show why he was signed for the club.
