Kim Kardashian West slammed by Nicole Brown’s sister over ‘beyond inappropriate’ OJ Simpson joke on Saturday Night Live

Kim Kardashian’s explosive monologue on Saturday Night Live in which she mocked the notorious OJ Simpson murder trial has been heavily criticised by Nicole Brown’s sister.

The former Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s star’s father Robert Kardashian represented Simpson during his 1995 murder trial after his ex-wife Brown and her friend Ron Goldman were found dead.

While Kim’s SNL monologue was full of some very close to the bone gags, focusing on her famous family, estranged husband Kanye West as well as her sex tape, her jokes about trial have been branded ‘beyond inappropriate’ by Brown’s sister, Tanya.

Simpson was acquitted of two counts of murder in the 1994 fatal stabbings of his ex-wife and Goldman.

Kim’s father Robert helped with Simpson’s defense, propelling the family into the public eye over the high-profile case.

When speaking about her budding law career on SNL, Kim discussed her close bond with Simpson, saying he was the ‘first Black person I ever met.’

‘My father was – and still is – such an inspiration to me and I credit him with really opening up my eyes to racial injustice,’ she said

She added: ‘It’s because of him that I met my first Black person. Want to take a stab in the dark at who it was?

‘I know it’s sort of weird to remember the first Black person you met but OJ does leave a mark. Or several. Or none at all! I still don’t know…’

Speaking to TMZ, Tanya said the remarks were in ‘poor taste’ and she’s questioned how much the Kardashian family actually cared about Nicole.

She added the references Kim made were ‘beyond inappropriate and insensitive’ and was curious as to why she didn’t refuse to perform the jokes on the comedy show.

In another reference to the case, The People’s Kourt sketch saw Keenan Thompson play OJ Simpson, and asked Kim why they don’t keep in touch.

The fictionalised version of OJ concluded the skit by asking: ‘Where’s everybody going?’

Saturday Night Live airs on NBC in the US.
